Maryanne has dedicated countless hours and effort for any cause which fits her philosophy of “leaving a small footprint on the world”. Her unheralded contribution to community has been her passion for teaching English to newcomers to our country.

For years she has devoted at least a day a week to teaching English as second language at St Johns Church Beecroft. This unpaid work has followed on from her full-time profession as a high school teacher. Maryanne never chose easy schools to teach at but the schools which presented many challenges to students recently arrived from foreign countries

As a skilled linguist herself, languages delight her.

Maryanne is a Rotarian and among other things she has hosted several Rotary exchange students – escorting them to a myriad of interesting Australian locations to enable them to return home country with a fond memory bank of their stay down under.
